Born in Lisbon, Sofia Encarnação began his artistic journey in 2012 at Chapitô and ended in 2018 at the Instituto Nacional das Artes do Circo, specializing in German Wheel. Since 2019, she has been involved in inclusive projects with people with disabilities through the Envolvarte project, later presented at Casa das Artes in Vila Nova de Famalicão.
She worked in the German circle for the company 1por um, Evolucion Circus, Vaudeville Rendez-Vous festival, Cúpula festival, Christmas season Coliseu do Porto AGEAS.
She participated in creations such as O bairro directed by Bruno Machado, IN LOCO directed by Carolina Vasconcelos, Demudar, directed by Hugo Maciel, Feno co-creation with CAOS company and the most recent project FRÁGIL co-created by her company.
In 2020 she founded the online page À Conversa com o Circo and in 2021 she co-founded Companhia Absurda. It is currently being created for the show HEQET, co-created by his company, and with the PANORAMA project, an inclusive project for women with disabilities supported by the Gulbenkian, which will premiere in April.
Born in Lisbon, Ariana Sebastião began her artistic training at Chapitô in 2013 and continued her artistic progress at the Instituto Nacional das Artes do Circo (INAC) specializing in juggling, ending in 2018 with the creation of the solo «Principio 90 /10» presented at Casa das Artes de Famalicão and at the LEME festival. In 2021 she participated in the INAC Artistic Creation course.
As an interpreter, he collaborated for the Umpor1 company, in the play «Susceptível ao praise» (2017) directed by André Araújo, «Plaina» (2018) directed by Jorge Lix and the show “Aquarela” (2021) in the Christmas season of Circo de Papel with the artistic direction of Juliana Moura, for Teatro da Didascália in the play «Argila – o principio era o verbo» (2019) with the artistic direction of Bruno Martins. This year she premiered the show “A Man and His Crew” with the staging of Cláudia Novoa.
Since 2019, she has been a trainer in the social project “Circo por Todos”, in which she was also assistant director of Carolina Vasconcelos in the inclusive show “O Touro vai nu”. She collaborated as a trainer in a circus workshop, in three editions, of the Festival Vaudeville Rendez-Vous, she even collaborated as a performer in the show “Demudar” with the artistic direction of Hugo Maciel in 2017.
She is currently a trainer/performer at Panorama, an inclusive project funded by PARTIS and GULBENKIAN.
She is, since 2021, co-founder, artistic director and interpreter of Companhia Absurda. It is within this structure that she develops her work in contemporary circus as an artist and creator, with the creation, in circulation, of “In Loco” and “Frágil”.
